Philanthropy and Pi Kappa Phi

Project SOAR
Undergraduates from Beta Chapter at Presbyterian College joined Boy Scout Troop 43 in Charlotte, North Carolina, on a field trip at Andrew Jackson State Park in South Carolina during Pi Kappa Phi’s attempt to adopt Project SOAR.

Project SOAR

Owen met with Bennett Smith, a Boy Scout troop leader and member of the Gamma Mu Chapter (Belmont Abbey). They shared how the values of the greater Fraternity closely aligned with the Boy Scouts. As collaboration sparked, Pi Kappa Phi decided to join the Boy Scouts of America in their service initiative, Project SOAR (Save Our American Resources). Owen piloted the project in schools near the Pi Kappa Phi National Headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, and announced it at Pi Kapp College. With many undergraduate members rejecting the idea, the project fizzled out before it could truly get started.
