Philanthropy and Pi Kappa Phi

Becoming The Ability Experience
The moment of friendship shared between a brother and a member of the disability community that inspired The Ability Experience logo.

Becoming The Ability Experience

After beginning as P.U.S.H, the organization transitioned to PUSH America, then to Push America. It received a new name and logo in 2014: The Ability Experience. The reasoning behind the name change was that Push America was associated with outdated language. A focus group indicated that a new name was needed to reflect the concept of abilities, one of Pi Kappa Phi’s core values. While the name changed, its mission remained the same: using shared experiences to support people with disabilities and develop the men of Pi Kappa Phi into servant leaders. The current logo features clasped hands, symbolizing a shared experience, inspired by a photo of a Pi Kappa Phi brother and a person with a disability sharing a meaningful, peer-to-peer moment.
