Constructing Change

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Ability Weekend, Ability Camp and the AccessABILITY program were introduced. These programs provided opportunities for Pi Kappa Phi members to engage in hands-on service construction projects to build and improve facilities and amenities for people with disabilities. Team members engaged in personal interactions with campers who would benefit from the projects, creating a unique, enriching experience. Today, The Ability Experience’s construction roots live on through Ability Camps, hosted annually at camps across the country that share Pi Kappa Phi’s mission of serving the disability community.  To date, Pi Kappa Phi brothers have contributed millions of hours to building and renovating facilities nationwide.
